Job Summary:
SUMMARY:

Under the direction of an assigned administrator, organize, coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operation and supervision of the Child Development Center, a Lab School; including planning, marketing, funding, budget and expenditures, grants development and coordination, personnel and facilities; and serve as a liaison between the Center, the Child Development Program, the College and the community

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university with a major or emphasis in early childhood education, child development, or consumer and family studies.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in a role with increasing supervisory/leadership responsibilities, including working in a preschool program in a lead or supervisory capacity.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Current concepts and best practices used in early childhood education.
Title 22 and Title 5 regulations.
Child behavior and development.
Curriculum planning for CDC programs, including instructional methods and techniques.
Methods of observing, evaluating and recording child behavior.
Materials, tools and equipment used in a CDC.
Health & safety regulations and practices.
Budget preparation and maintenance.
Grant writing processes.
Principles and practices of supervision and training.
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

ABILITY TO:

Plan, organize and coordinate the operation and activities of the CDC.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Effectively supervise, train and evaluate staff.
Design and implement a marketing program.
Promote the CDC philosophy, mission, and goals of the department.
Work effectively with a diverse student, staff and community population.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Use current technology, computers and appropriate software applications effectively.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Plan and organize work; work independently with little direction to meet schedules and timelines.
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

Preferred Qualifications:
Other Licenses and Certifications: Possession of Child Development Program Director Permit from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. (If not currently held, must obtain one within the first six months of District employment).

Valid certification in pediatric CPR, first aid preventative health practices (may be completed within 30 days of employment)

Must have documented teaching experience and 4 years of work experience in a licensed child care facility in a lead capacity
