The University of San Francisco seeks a productive and team-oriented individual to join the Application Services group as an IT Applications Administrator. This is a full-time Administrative and Professional Staff position, reporting to the ERP Technical Manager. Primary responsibility of the IT Applications Administrator would be to install, implement, administer and maintain a portfolio of IT software applications, which support the various needs and functions of University departments and colleges. Maintenance would include monitoring, troubleshooting and fixing the issues that arise, contacting and escalating to software vendors as deemed appropriate. It will also include performing enhancements and upgrades as and when needed.

Job Summary:

The University of San Francisco seeks a productive and team-oriented individual to join the Application Services group as an IT Applications Administrator. Primary responsibility of the IT Applications Administrator would be to install, implement, administer and maintain a portfolio of IT software applications, which support the various needs and functions of University departments and colleges. Maintenance would include monitoring, troubleshooting and fixing the issues that arise, contacting and escalating to software vendors as deemed appropriate. It will also include performing enhancements and upgrades as and when needed.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical expert in a team supporting University-hosted and potentially cloud-based IT applications such as DegreeWorks, StarRez, Micros, Titanium, Canvas LMS, Jaggaer eProcurement and others.

  • Follow best practices toward the installation, implementation and maintenance of IT software.

  • Troubleshoot system related problems; coordinate with relevant System Administrators regarding user support and problem resolution.

  • Coordinate with Database Administrators and Programming staff regarding data integration and data access.

  • Manage the security access setup and matrix of the supported applications, and coordinate with the Information Security Officer (ISO) for incidents and audits.

  • Monitor applications and take corrective action to prevent or minimize system down time.

  • Perform enhancements and upgrades to the applications as when needed to meet the business needs.

  • Create user documentation and train personnel on new applications software.

  • Create support documentation and partner with other AppAdmins to allow for backup support of the applications.

  • Become escalation point for user support inquiries and problems.

  • Document the FAQs, update Knowledge Base articles, and create Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) instructions.

  • Collaborate on special projects with departmental peers and colleagues.

  • Keep current with technology changes and attend appropriate assigned training.

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a technical focus
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a related job field supporting applications.
  • 1 or more years in operations focused roles.
  • Experience working with Windows environment
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
  • General Unix or Linux experience, incl. shell scripts
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Customer and team oriented.
  • Ability to work off-hours to resolve application issues or problems.
  • Experience using troubleshooting techniques to resolve application related problems.
  • Need to ensure availability, dependability, and reliability of assigned applications.
  • Observe confidentiality of work related information and materials
