Primary Function:
The Project Manager leads, plans, supports, and executes university-wide IT projects. This position provides strategic input for project plan development, budget, and scope . He/She manages the Project Management Life Cycle from beginning to end and establishes cohesion for achieving
multi-disciplinary stakeholder and project team buy-in. This position applies industry-accepted methodologies (i.e., Project Management Institute [PM/}) to ensure adherence to project management standards and requirements and to provide both university and external state/local government stakeholders with continual reports on project progress and performance . He/She provides project management subject matter expertise (SME) to the Division of Information Technology and mentors and coaches Project Management Office (PMO} employees. This position performs project management research to improve and refine skills and to identify trends and best practices for improving PMO performance . The Project Manager I reports to the Associate Director for Project Management.


Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager leads, plans, supports, and executes university-wide IT projects.


Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in an IT related field and three (3) years of experience in design, development/programming, implementation and testing of technical solutions to support software applications and systems
OR
six (6) years of experience in design, development/programming, implementation and testing of technical solutions to support software applications and systems

2. Two (2) years of work experience in a supervisory or lead worker capacity

3. Must obtain a PM certification (Certified Associate in Program Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP)) within one year

Working Hours: 8am-4:30pm

The Civil Service examination for this classification is a credentials assessment and is based on your application materials as submitted for this posting. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated from your education/experience and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names with the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. Once this position has been filled, all names will be removed from the employment register in accordance with State Universities Civil Service System rule 250.60(h)(10).
