RESPONSIBILITIES: The softball head coach is responsible for leading all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division I softball program including, but not limited to: budget management, recruiting, fundraising, supervision of staff, a commitment to student-athlete health and welfare, and directing skill instruction and development. The successful candidate must be fully committed to all NCAA, The Summit League, and Western Illinois University Athletics Department policies and procedures, and will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree (at time of appointment) in a field or area of study related to sport management, leadership, supervision, or higher education administration. Demonstrated competitive success in coaching intercollegiate softball. Proven record of successful recruitment of college-level academically and athletically prepared student-athletes. Progressive experience in managing the diverse administrative responsibilities attendant to an intercollegiate softball program, including effective budget management, travel planning, and scheduling. Proven record of adherence to NCAA academic and compliance regulations. Proven record of promoting a culture among student-athletes that values academic excellence, and student-athlete health and welfare.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Competitive success in a head coaching role at the NCAA level. Supervisory experience.

The WIU-Macomb and -Quad Cities campuses are comprised of accomplished faculty, state-of-the-art technology and facilities, and a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities. WIU-Macomb, IL (Student Population: 8,943): A traditional, residential four-year campus with select graduate programs, including a doctorate in education, WIU-Macomb is located in the heart of west central Illinois in Macomb (population 20,000). Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70 miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).
WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,430): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
