About the Position:

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Assistant to the Dean (Administrative Analyst/Specialist-Non-Exempt). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general supervision, the Assistant to the Dean provides high-level administrative and analytical support to the Dean, dean's office, and other administrators in the College of Education. Serves as the principal liaison between the Dean and administrative personnel, faculty, staff in all components of the campus as well as the external community. In addition to overseeing confidential communication and calendar for the Dean, the position requires analysis and interpretation of administrative policies and an understanding of the organizational unity of the dean's office as well as the entire university. Other responsibilities includes but not limited to overseeing dean's office day-to-day operations, identifying operational and logistical needs to streamline processes and services, coordinating space planning needs, processing and coordinating faculty personnel review process for lecturers, tenure track, and post-tenured faculty, overseeing social media activities, etc. Attends meetings as needed. Other duties as assigned.

    Essential Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience.

    Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.


    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    Five years of progressively responsible experience in general office, clerical or secretarial work. Previous experience coordinating and planning events and meetings. Demonstrated successful experience working in a multicultural and linguistically diverse setting and interacting with faculty for project or program development. Working knowledge of managing a large staff and coordinating time-sensitive program evaluations.
