ANALYST PROGRAMMER (Analyst/Programmer- Career)

Primary Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Applications and Data Services (ADS), the Analyst/Programmer analyzes, designs, develops, integrates, and supports technology-based solutions including web applications, associated databases, and related systems. Particular focus during the first year will be on the implementation of a new customer relationship management (CRM) system (TargetX/Salesforce), including all CRM setup/configuration and data/systems integration to/from upstream and downstream systems. Data Integrations could use the ETL tools of Informatica or IBM InfoSphere/Cognos depending upon vendor requirements.

ADS Analyst/Programmers are responsible for supporting a wide range of 3rd party vendor applications, both in self-hosted and vendor-hosted environments, using standardized practices for application administration and support.

ADS Analyst/Programmers are also responsible for web application development using several standardized languages and tools. The primary web application development environment is Microsoft Visual Studio with a Model-View-Controller (MVC) software pattern in the C# programming language. Databases include Oracle and Microsoft SQL. Authentication/authorization systems/protocols can vary depending upon program and end-user requirements (e.g. Active Directory, LDAP, CAS, Shibboleth, AD Federation Services, Database Role Providers, etc.).

ADS Analyst/Programmers are also responsible for the campus data warehouse and various reporting systems. ADS uses the IBM InfoSphere (MetaData), Data Stage (ETL), and Cognos Analytics (reporting) tools. Concepts in Data Modeling, Extract Transform Load (ETL), Report Modeling and Design are also introduced and utilized with all staff in department.

ADS shares the responsibilities under Enterprise Applications and Data Services (EADS) with coordinating and helping the campus regarding technology, resources, and services to support learning, research, and the business operations of the University. ADS will assist with any application development, vendor 3rd party maintenance and integrations between applications, and data reporting needs across the campus.

Required Education:

Requires the equivalent to a bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent training and applied experience
AND
Two years of full-time equivalent experience related to application development and support.

  • The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office. Must be able to travel across campus to other offices and buildings on campus for meetings and events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position involves frequent interaction with other members of the Applications and Data Services (ADS) team, with other members of the Information Resources organization, and with functional and technical members of the campus community. Work is performed in a typical, open office environment with cubicles or segregated office space, and will be operating standard office equipment.
