ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR CLINICAL SUPPORT SERVICES

McKinley Health Center, a fully accredited college health center at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, is seeking an Assistant Director for Clinical Support Services. This individual will provide leadership and administrative support through planning, organizing and directing the operations of the clinical units. The Assistant Director will work in close collaboration with physician leadership carrying out operational responsibilities to assure high quality service delivery. This individual will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and will report to the Director of McKinley.

Clinical Administrative Duties (85%)

1. Oversees the operations of assigned departments in the following areas:

  • Day-to-day operation of the unit, including adequacy of staffing

  • Compliance with standards for accreditation, including credentialing of professionals and peer review

  • Budget requests

  • Adherence to University, Local, State and Federal regulations in establishing department procedures and policies

  • Financial records and purchasing negotiations

  • Liaison with University, Local, State and Federal health agencies in promoting good public relations

  • Personnel recruitment and management

  • Staff development and training


Administrative (15%)

2. Works with the Director and other Assistant Directors in the development of the Health Center's strategic plan, goals, policies and procedures. Serves as a member of McKinley's Management Team.
3. Maintains working relationships with colleagues in the community's healthcare system. Coordinates care of students referred to community resources. Coordinates campus initiatives.
4. Is responsible for evaluating departmental program effectiveness in relation to ongoing needs, available resources and overall mission of the Health Center.

5. Participates in Quality Improvement Activities as assigned.
6. Responsible and accountable to support and ensure a culture of safety, quality and risk management including compliance with ethics.
7. Assume appropriate related additional duties to further the mission of the unit.

A Bachelor's Degree, RN is required. A minimum of seven years of progressive supervisory experience in a health care setting is required. Illinois Nursing License or eligibility for one is required. Prefer experience in ambulatory healthcare. Knowledge of and a passion for the management principles and best practices of budgeting, planning, staffing, evaluating and operating programs and knowledge of general principles of high-quality health care is required.

This is a 12 month, 100% Academic Professional position. Salary is competitive and includes a very attractive, comprehensive University benefits package including a state retirement benefit plan.
