Access Services Coordinator



TITLE: Access Services Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
To coordinate the services of the College's student disabilities program including assessing student needs and coordinating instructional support. All services and support will be delivered in accordance with guidelines established by the Americans with Disabilities ACT (ADA) and Section 504, and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as disability liaison for the campus.
Coordinates with the Testing Center to ensure students testing accommodations as outlined by ADA guidelines are provided.
Serves as the informational representative for all students with disabilities across all campus departments.
Serves as an additional support with student services; provides admission assistance, orientation and general advising; develops intervention strategies to improve retention of students.
Processes student accommodations and communicates with students and faculty using AIM (Accessible Information Management).
Prepares and conducts faculty/staff workshops regarding accommodations for students with disabilities.
Assesses individual needs of students based on information contained in evaluation reports and based on professional assessment.
Networks with service providers and helps identify appropriate supports for students.
Remains updated on legal issues, i.e. ADA, and adaptive / assistive equipment and technology.
Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in education, special education, counseling, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or social work.
A minimum of one-year experience working with students with emotional, physical, and learning disabilities.
Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and 508 regulations and guidelines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Higher Education Experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Skills in oral and written communication
Creative problem solving and taking initiative
Interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) and strong administrative skills
Experience with accommodation management software systems such as AIM is strongly preferred

RATE OF PAY: $41,360 - $51,700 annual salary depending on experience
