We are searching for an experienced Accounting Supervisor at our Santa Maria Campus facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR
DEFINITION:
Under the direction of the Director, Business Services, plan, organize, control and direct accounting operations, activities and financial record-keeping and reporting functions for the district; coordinate and direct personnel, communications and fiscal record-keeping functions to meet college accounting needs and assure smooth and efficient fiscal activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; and value and promote the mission and vision of the college.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
Under minimal supervision, the Accounting Supervisor performs complex professional accounting duties and supervises the operations of the accounting program. Incumbents provide supervision and technical direction on a wide variety of accounting operations and reporting issues to lower level professional accounting staff and other support personnel. Assignments require the use of independent judgment on issues that are complex, interpretive and evaluative in nature.

Desired start date is November 2019. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12-month FLSA exempt position.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Required Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Planning, organization, and direction of accounting operations, activities and financial and statistical record-keeping and reporting functions; Accounting, budget and business functions of a college district; Theory and application of budgetary planning and control in a college system; generally accepted accounting and auditing principles, practices and procedures; Preparation, analysis, review and control of college accounts and budgets; Applicable laws, codes, regulations policies and procedures; Financial analysis and projection techniques; Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training.Demonstrated ability to: Coordinate and direct personnel, communications and fiscal record-keeping functions to meet college accounting needs and assure smooth and efficient fiscal activities; Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; Assure accurate accounting of funds including income and expenditures; Provide technical assistance and expertise regarding fiscal and budgetary operations and activities; Monitor, evaluate, balance and reconcile various accounts, funds and budgets; Evaluate financial data and prepare reports and recommendations; Interpret, apply and explain laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; meet schedules and time lines;
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and five years increasingly responsible accounting experience involving the review, analysis, maintenance and adjustment of a variety of budgets, funds and accounts.
Physical Demands: Typically may sit for extended periods of time. Operates a computer. Communicates over the telephone, via email, and in person. Regularly lifts, carries, and/or moves objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Working Conditions: This is an FLSA exempt position. Duties are primarily performed in an office environment, at a desk, or at a computer. The incumbent will experience interruptions while performing normal duties during the regular workday. The incumbent will have contact, in person, by email, or on the telephone, with staff, faculty, and the general public. Work may require travel to other offices or locations to attend meetings or conduct work. May be required to work a flexible workweek which includes day and evening hours and occasional weekend assignments and may be assigned to any district location.
