Job Description:

HSR-402 This course is designed to help students develop an understanding of addictions from an eco-systems perspective. The addictive process and recovery will be studied, including the reciprocal interaction between addicted individuals and the various social systems of which they are a part. Students will examine substance abuse and behavioral compulsions, including alcohol and other drugs, smoking, compulsive gambling, eating disorders and sexual addictions. There will also be a focus on diversity in addicted populations, the business of drugs and prevention. Attention will be given to biological and genetic factors in the etiology of addiction, family issues, and community responses. The consequences of addictions will be studied at the individual, family, community and societal levels. This course will draw on current research in the field of addictions, and will emphasize critical thinking and analysis of the current controversies in the field.



Requirements:



  • Masters degree required.

  • College-level and online teaching experience required.

  • Must be able to teach.

  • Previous curriculum development preferred.

  • If you operate a University owned, leased or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. You must have a valid driver's license and must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including terminations.

  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Should be committed to a culture of diversity, respect and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences different from ones' own.

Additional Information:


Looking for a subject matter expert to help redesign and update the curriculum for HSR-402 Addictions and Interventions. Previous curriculum design experience preferred.
