The Assistant Director of Financial Aid plans, organizes, and completes program administration and assists with developing policy and implementing institutional policy, philosophy and procedures in a manner consistent with the University mission. The staff member performs in the following areas: (1) oversee the administration of Financial Aid State programs and Scholarships including the administration of day-to-day activities associated with processing over 30,000 applications annually, (2) completes administrative activities; and (3) serves as a resource to staff. Serves on a 6-member management team and reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid to effectively plan, direct, & provide a comprehensive Financial Aid delivery system and ensuring high quality student service. Completes office management activities such as establishing goals; investigating changes in legislation; managing resources; recruiting, training, and defining staff responsibilities and provide the highest quality service and highest degree of professionalism to students, constituents, and the University community. Serves as a representative and resource person on Financial Aid matters to the university community. Plans presentations and conducts workshops for students, faculty, and staff. Provides in-depth counseling to students in academics, personal counseling, career and financial planning. Other duties as assigned.



Essential Qualifications:
The Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible university experience, including at least three years of managing in a complex organization or office; additional specialized and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the required education at management's discretion. Excellent analytical, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, professional judgment, professionalism and a commitment to high quality service and teamwork are required.

A background that includes organizational development, data management and use of associated computer systems, public relations and staff supervision is essential. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid, reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid and is a member of the management team who lead the daily activities of the office. The successful candidate must be able to relate effectively with students and parents and work well with all campus departments. He or she must have an outstanding aptitude to anticipate and analyze problems, and make appropriate judgments on a daily basis. Strong basic mathematical and analytical skills, ability to document work clearly, work accurately and efficiently with attention to detail in a deadline driven setting are required. Must be able to analyze highly complex situations and perform assignments without supervision. Proficiency with Windows, Outlook, Excel, electronic mail, internet applications, and Word required
