Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment provides oversight and management for a major function related to the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of undergraduate students to the Hilltop and/or branch campuses. Major function areas include, but are not limited to, transfer recruitment, multicultural recruitment, alumni/parent volunteers; counselor relations and events; and campus events and programming. The assistant director is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating activities related to one of the function areas. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Admission for Access and Inclusion, and working collaboratively with all admission colleagues, the Assistant Director is charged with providing the highest quality programmatic development and student experience to achieve enrollment goals.
This position's main responsibilities include support of initiatives to improve Latinx/Hispanic recruitment and enrollment. As a member of the Multicultural Recruitment Task Force (MRTF), the Assistant Director should provide support for bringing onboard new initiatives to recruit Native identified students and coordinate outreach to the student culturally focused groups. The Assistant Director will also be charged with working with the Transfer Task Force to create opportunities for multicultural recruitment initiatives in the transfer sphere. Additionally, this person is responsible for supervising and directing a team of seasonal/outside readers throughout the admission cycle to support the work of the full-time staff and will be asked to take on major responsibilities within the Slate system.

Job Responsibilities:

Develops and implements a comprehensive plan related to the major functional areas for the admissions team in coordination with the admissions recruitment plan.
Identifies admission activities and strategies for developing and enhancing prospective student markets whether that be recruitment travel for transfer students, events for counselors, programming for multicultural students, or recruitment of alumni/parent volunteers.
Serves as the lead for questions, issues, communication, and programming related to the major functional areas.
Develops an expansive training program related to the function area for new admissions staff and continues on-going training and professional development for all the admissions team. Develops training materials, documentation, support, and programs to ensure best practices and impact.
Ensures the development of best practices not only related to the major functional areas but also to all admissions related functions.
Represents the University in a variety of settings both on-campus and throughout the country
Selects, schedules, and coordinates high school, community college, and college fair visits to recruit prospective students
Communicate with students, faculty, staff, and alumni to recruit qualified students to USF
Develop and maintain effective relationships with appropriate counselors, administrative, and teacher contacts at high schools and community colleges
Counsel prospective students and families about admission, transfer credit, financial aid, academic programs, and student life at USF
Reviews admission files, determines eligibility, decides which applicants are qualified for admission to USF and makes admission decisions
Assesses and analyzes results of recruitment and program management efforts and then develops and implements appropriate changes based on the analysis
Utilizes data service and market analysis tools to plan recruitment and yield strategy
Contributes to the yearly planning and evaluation of recruitment and admission programs.
Assists in management of visit and other special event programs for prospective and admitted students that effectively increase matriculation and ensure safe and informative experiences for students and their families
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree with two or more years in admissions required
This job requires extensive travel.
Demonstrated public speaking experience and excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to evaluate and refine programming logistics, service offerings, and scheduling
Proven ability to successfully plan, prioritize, and multitask and to work with minimal supervision and to follow through and meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, diverse, and team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
Advanced computer/technical proficiency.
Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
Commitment to Affirmative Action goals.
Understanding of and commitment to USFs Vision, Mission and Values in creating a learning environment that nurtures among students the faith that does justice.
Experience with Slate a plus.
Spanish speaker highly desired.
