Assistant Director, Student Clubs


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Assistant Director, Student Clubs.

The Assistant Director for Student Clubs (ADSC) is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and/or supervision of more than 200 activities and events sponsored by 400 student run undergraduate and graduate clubs. The ADSC assists the Director with administrative responsibilities for the office, for instance, coordinating the prospective club application process, facilitating the management of 140 student run football concession stands and the annual club registration program. The ADSC develops office social and leadership programming including Activities Night and advisor training programs and assists with event supervision. The ADSC serves as an advisor for two branches of the undergraduate student government, the Club Coordination Council and a Class Council. The AD is a full time 12 month position with late night and weekend programming responsibilities year round.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supports various administrative responsibilities for the Student Activities Office - Programming including the prospective club process, club registration, football concession stands and/or communications. Serves as a member of senior leadership team for the department.

2. Advises the Club Coordination Council, a branch of the Student Government and a class council, in administering their budgets, fund-raising activities, planning for special programs and in ensuring continuity from year-to-year.

3. Serves as the Activities Liaison to approximately 400 student run undergraduate and graduate clubs. In this role, supports with the development and facilitation of their events including concerts and special events. Serves as a resource on contract matters, liability/ risk avoidance and ensuring compliance with University policy.

4. Oversees the advancement of a vibrant and forward-looking club officer development series and club information meetings.

5. Approves events submitted for Student Activities Office departmental approval ranging from fundraisers, student group travel, dances or imprinted items.

6. Coordinates large school programming events for the Student Activities Office including all University events such as Activities Night and the Shamrock Leadership series for sophomores.

7. Assists the Director of Student Activities -

Programming with the hiring, training and development of staff members. .May assist with the training and supervision of student office assistants, graphic designers and interns.

8. Provides on-site supervision of designated events as Event Manager to oversee use, admission receipts, compliance with policies, the hospitality of performer(s) and to assist in problem resolution.

9. Supports events and may serve as a Manager on Duty at Legends of Notre Dame's nightclub or catering events.

10. Participates as an integral member of a large, multifaceted Student Development team interacting daily with colleagues working with facilities operations, Legends (on campus nightclub and restaurant), Office of Community Standards, Gender Relations Center, Multicultural Student Programs and Services, and the student media groups.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a masters degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education or a related area. The successful candidate will have minimum of three years of full-time experience with group advising, large scale event planning and departmental administrative responsibilities. Qualifications include advanced understanding of personal computers (including desktop publishing), strong organizational skills and the knowledge of and desire to develop cutting edge leadership and social programs. Additional qualifications include exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a diverse group that includes students, staff, faculty and the public. The successful candidate will also possess a commitment to fostering Judeo-Christian values, consistent with the mission of a Catholic university founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional qualifications include exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a diverse group that includes students, staff, faculty and the public.
