Faculty Position

Assistant/Associate Professor in Early Childhood Special Education

The Department of Special Education at The University of Texas at Austin, College of Education, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). The appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Duties include developing and maintaining a nationally recognized program of research; teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level related to ECSE; mentoring graduate students; collaborating with local districts and agencies serving culturally and economically diverse students; and engaging in service to the university and profession. Those considered for appointment at the Associate Professor level will have an active portfolio of externally funded research. Affiliation with the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk is also negotiable (www.meadowscenter.org).

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in special education or a related field with an emphasis in ECSE. The candidate's research should focus on issues related to intervention with children at risk and/or children with disabilities and their families. Prior experience working with young diverse students, schools, and families is highly valued. Experience preparing practitioners in evidence-based educational practices in ECSE is desired.
