Job Description

The position is responsible for being the point person for marketing and communications including serving as a spokesperson for the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences. This includes conceptualizing, coordinating, implementing, managing and evaluating the development of the College's brand.

This is position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement and facilitate annual marketing plan for a collegiate environment. Develop a strategic based knowledge of policy, nature of market and trend projects translating objectives and strategies to facilitate growth as well as aid in resiliency planning for the college. Be knowledgeable about the academic and fund raising priorities of the College.
  • Manage the college's internal and external communications systems in conjunction with university's public affairs office, press and marketing communications units in the public and private sector. Assess and translate materials into print, online and social media; attend and actively participate in College Advisory Board meetings, committee meetings, conference calls and functions. Advise the office of the Dean, through the Board, on matters important to alumni relating to the College. Provide leadership in organizing or assisting with on-campus events and activities for alumni engaging them as volunteers and recruiting active Leadership Team members. Create recognition programs that encourage active alumni participation.
  • Maintain supervisory authority over the communications unit for the College including graphic art, photography/videography, written copy for marketing materials and content for web based outlets, developing and maintaining procedures for gathering current information and conducting interviews. Oversee the College's social media presence and updates to the College web site.
  • Serve as a primary contact person for alumni, representing their interests to the College. Respond to alumni requests for input and guidance and make referrals to the college as appropriate.
  • Create systems and procedures that maintain and manage contact lists of alumni, associates and prospective associates; implement event registration procedures and develop systems to expand customer relations.


Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in the field of marketing and advertising.
