Position Description
Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Major/Essential Functions
Successful candidates will be expected to develop nationally and internationally recognized and externally funded research programs, develop departmental and multidisciplinary collaborations, teach core graduate and undergraduate courses in chemical engineering and develop new courses, and perform internal and professional service at a level commensurate with rank.

Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program-building, as well as a commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected.

Required Qualifications
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidates intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity

Preferred Qualifications
While there is a preference for faculty with research interests in design and optimization of materials, machine learning and process control, distributed manufacturing, and catalysis as applied to energy and sustainability systems; excellent candidates with research interests in translational bioengineering/medicine and nanotechnology/nanomaterials will be considered.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely related fields, a track record of outstanding research (commensurate with rank), and a commitment to excellence in education, student mentoring, outreach, and/or community engagement. Successful candidates will be expected to develop nationally and internationally recognized and externally funded research programs, develop departmental and multidisciplinary collaborations, foster partnerships within and outside Texas Tech University as well as industry, teach core graduate and undergraduate courses in chemical engineering, develop new courses (including online courses), engage into strategic outreach and engaged scholarship, and perform internal and professional service at a level commensurate with rank. Applicants at the senior level should have a strong record of attracting and sustaining externally sponsor research, strong publications record, and demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary research activities. Applicants at the senior level will be expected to lead the Department in major multidisciplinary research endeavors and Centers of Excellence.
