Job Summary/Basic Function:
Job Summary:
The Athletics Sports Information Specialist assists the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations in managing all aspects of the Athletics Media Relations Department.

Examples of work performed:
1. Assist in all publicity efforts of the department; brochures for all sports, press kits, press releases and speciality brochures as needed.

2. Assist in the supervision of game statistical and press coverage as assigned.

3. Assist as a media contact for the athletics department. Interacts on a regular basis with the local electronic and print media.

4. Works cooperatively with Southland Conference Communications Office.

5. Perform any additional duties as requested by the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree required.
* Basic computer layout and design knowledge in desktop software required.
* Ability to maintain accurate statistical records regarding individual and team records for all sports programs required.
* Proven writing ability along with possessing effective interpersonal communication skills required.
* Knowledge of NCAA rules required
* Able to tolerate flexible work hours weekends and nights.

Strict adherence to established NCAA, Southland Conference, Lamar University and Texas State University System rules and regulations. A violation of these rules and regulations can lead to disciplinary action including termination.

Reports directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualification(s):
* Masters degree preferred.
* 1 2 years in a University Media Relations Office or related area preferred.
* Working knowledge of volleyball statistical operations preferred.
