Job Description:
APPOINTMENT:
August 1, 2017

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties will include injury prevention, recognition, evaluation, and assessment, acute care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries. Responsible for athletic training services during intercollegiate practices, home and away sporting events for WIU student-athletes. Travel with women's basketball team. Clinical supervision and assessment of students enrolled in the undergraduate CAATE athletic training education program. Supervision of graduate assistant athletic trainers. Supervise Western Hall athletic training room. Communicate effectively with athletic department personnel and physicians. Other duties and sport coverage as assigned. Healthcare administrative duties to include medical documentation, and insurance claim form submission. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Sports Medicine.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BOC certified athletic trainer. State of Illinois athletic training licensure or eligible for at time of appointment. Master's degree in related field at time of appointment. Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or eligible. Valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with athletic training student supervision. Recent Certified Athletic Trainer experience as a Graduate Assistant or Full Time staff at the NCAA intercollegiate level. Experience with prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of intercollegiate athletic injuries and illnesses. Experience with preparing and maintaining accurate medical records and insurance paperwork. Experience communicating effectively with coaches, physicians and other athletic department personnel. Experience traveling with an intercollegiate sport team.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,430): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa.
