Job Summary/Basic Function:
Perform cashiering duties for the EvCC Cashiers Office. Greet students, verify, consolidate and balance cash receipts. Maintain and prepare daily bank reports and deposits. Follow established procedures and remain compliant with college and state policies.

Typical duties include:
  • Provide excellent customer service while assisting departments, students, and vendors with account information and accounting procedures in person, via email, and by phone
  • Calculate fees
  • Receive payments by cash, check, or credit card, including web payments
  • Make change and issue receipts
  • Balance records and till daily
  • Maintain records of funds received, distributed, or transferred
  • Maintain and enforce security procedures to ensure safety of funds
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Receive deposits from other departments
  • Maintain records of internal cash flow
  • Disburse petty cash funds
  • Send invoices to students and customers
  • Assist with collections process
  • Assist with documenting established procedures
  • Operate calculator, computer, cash register
  • Review and process customer credits/refunds
  • Monitor, analyze and reconcile assigned accounts to be sent to collections
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases to support various accounting office processes and records
  • Identify and resolve problems by researching records and making adjustments to accounts as appropriate. Work closely with customers to communicate reasons for any such changes.
  • Assist with accounting office quarter-end and/or year-end closing process
  • Provide input on internal controls and protection of college assets
  • Analyze current processes and provide suggestions for improvements in time, efficiency and customer service.
  • Cross-train on department activities and procedures
  • Sort and file records, reports, copies of checks received and other accounting documents
  • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:
    High school graduation or equivalent
    Computer experience word processing and spreadsheets
    One or more years of experience in cashiering or a closely related fiscally responsible job such as retail sales clerk or bank teller, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    Demonstrated experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including differences in culture, heritage, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, class, and religion

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Associate degree or higher
    Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access) and scheduling software
    Two or more years of work experience in cashiering, supervision of cashiering, or other fiscal related work
    Receptionist or customer service experience
    Retail sales experience
