The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences invites applications for the Chair in the Department of Neurology. This position reports to the Executive Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Dean of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences. The successful candidate must possess the minimum qualifications of an M.D. degree or equivalent, board certification in Neurology, a distinguished record of academic/clinical experience, research productivity and skill in managing clinical activities within an academic and managed care environment.

It is expected that the new Chair will grow excellent clinical programs; provide leadership within the Department; work collaboratively across the organization and affiliation; be committed to the training of medical students, neurology residents, and fellows; and expand the scope of research.

The Department of Neurology has achieved a national reputation and garnered numerous awards for excellence and innovative teaching. Through its Academic Affiliation with ProMedica, the region's largest health system, The University of Toledo has developed a state-of-the-art Neurosciences Center, bringing together the best in clinical practice and academia. The Center, located on the campus of ProMedica Toledo Hospital, offers access to high-quality outpatient care and comprehensive services, including neurology and neurosurgery outpatient clinics, imaging, neurophysiology, neuro rehabilitation therapy and an audiology clinic. As the premier neurosciences center in the region, it also attracts significant patient volume to support superior education for students, residents and fellows specializing in neurosciences while advancing knowledge of neurological disease and developing new treatments and therapies through basic and clinical research. The Chair of the Department of Neurology serves as the center's medical director.

This dedicated team of academic neurologists uphold the departmental three-fold mission: 1) to provide excellent education to our students, residents, fellows, and the wider community of medical professionals, 2) To improve the lives of persons with neurological disorders through compassionate, state-of-the-art medical care and education, and 3) To advance the state of knowledge of neurological disease, and develop new treatments through basic and clinical research.
