Job Summary/Basic Function:
PRIMARY DAILY RESPONSIBILITY:
Coordinate and supervise programs designed to help students learn and develop the skills necessary to be successful in college.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The STAR Services Coordinator is a full-time professional staff position who is responsible for continued development, planning, and implementation of LU Success, an academic coaching program, and assistance with support for at-risk populations. This position reports to the Director of STAR (Student Tutoring and Retention) Services and interacts extensively with academic and student service departments and faculty and staff across campus to provide comprehensive support for Lamar University undergraduate students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinate and implement LU Success academic coaching program
  • Hire, train, and supervise student staff utilizing College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) guidelines and standards
  • Supervise professional Academic Specialists
  • Assist the Director of STAR Services with outreach and programming for at-risk students
  • Utilize EAB Navigate system for appointments, communication, and reporting
  • Advance partnerships with multiple departments and individuals across campus
  • Market and promote all programs and events
  • Assess, evaluate, and grow programs
  • Participate in professional development and student success research


    Minimum Qualifications:
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    Knowledge of program development and learning development theory
    Superior oral/written communication skills
    Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications
    High level organizational and interpersonal skills
    Demonstrated ability to participate in a highly collaborative work environment
    Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
    Ability to represent Lamar University with high levels of professionalism and customer service

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university with one year of relevant experience required.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Masters degree preferred
    Experiences preferred include at least three years working with college students, program management, and knowledge of the university educational system and student retention.
