About the Position:
The Facilities Management Department is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high quality learning and working environment for the campus community. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Electrician. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Electrician works under the direction of the Supervising Electrician in the Campus Electric Shop completing maintenance and repair work as outlined under the electrician position matrix. Installs equipment and systems for new construction, modifications, PM, service, maintenance, and repairs. Includes inspections, testing, calibration, adjustments, system diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Assists in the design of projects, including sketches, single lines, and provides advice on the selection of materials and equipment. Consults and coordinates work with plant personnel and customers. Maintains records and writes reports. Supports Information Technology with SSI projects. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
A combination of progressively responsible training and experience demonstrating the achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to those acquired through the completion of a standard electricians apprenticeship program. Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical apparatuses, equipment, and systems. Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade, including the National Electric Code and Electrical Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety of the State of California. Ability to assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses. Ability to operate all applicable tools and equipment necessary to perform skilled electrical work. Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications. Ability to create rough sketches and estimate costs, time, and materials necessary for electrical work. Ability to maintain records and retrieve data related to work performed using manual and computerized record-keeping systems. Ability to prepare standard reports and provide instruction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants. Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the position. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for the duties of the position. Possession of customer service skills.

Special Working Conditions:
Works on uneven surfaces, within construction sites, and inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions.

Ability to wear a respirator, move and install equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., climb and work on a ladder and man lifts, and work in confined spaces

Will carry master keys. Works on pitched and flat roofs.
Works at heights using aerial lifts or other assisted equipment, such as scaffolding, etc.
