Job Summary/Basic Function:
Everett Community College has an opportunity for a full time English Language Acquisition (ESL) and Intensive English Language Program (IELP) instructor.

This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Dean of Transitional Studies.

Successful candidates will have experience teaching college preparatory skills to non-native English speakers. In addition, the candidate may be reassigned time for coordination of division activities and to serve as liaison between faculty, staff, and the International Education office.

Primary duties include:

-Teach a 15 credit load per quarter for 3 quarters;
-Advise students in their course selections and programs and make referrals as necessary;
-Serve on college committees and contribute to campus activities;
-Demonstrate the interest, ability and innovation to contribute to student success and faculty collaboration.
-Provide division leadership and collaborate with other entities on campus and in the community;
-Participate in all other tasks in accordance with the faculty contracts and college policy.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Masters degree in linguistics, TESOL, Education, English, or a related field with a TESOL Teaching Certificate.

-Three (3) years of recent experience in a college setting, either in full time or cumulatively on a part-time basis, teaching reading, writing, speaking, and listening to English language learners.

-Demonstrated experience, and/or classroom strategies for, effectively instructing students from diverse backgrounds including differences in culture, heritage, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, class, and religion.

Preferred Qualifications:
Working understanding of Guided Pathways and advising Transitional Studies students into college-level pathways.

-Bilingual in at least one other language.

-Experience teaching in the community/technical college system

-More than five (5) years of recent experience in a college setting, either full-time or cumulatively on a part-time basis, teaching English to international students with a wide range of skill levels, cultural and socio-economic
backgrounds.

-Knowledge of web enhanced tools and teaching and advising platforms.

-Experience advising and developing educational college and career
pathways.

-Experience teaching and contextualizing college and career development
skills.

-Experience in curriculum design and lesson development.

- Evidence of contributions to the campus community.

-Philosophy of education appropriate to the community college.

-Evidence of participation in continuing professional development.

-Evidence of positive performance evaluations
