We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Executive Director-Grant & Research Development

The Executive Director will plan, direct, and manage, the operations and services of the Office of Grant & Research Development including proposal development and other pre-award activities, post-award administration, and regulatory compliance functions. The position must understand and be able to apply the federal Uniform Guidance and the Federal Acquisition Regulations. The Executive Director will have had a role in or a working knowledge of administering the Revised Common Rule (45 CFR Part 46 â€" Protection of Human Subjects) in order to serve as the university's human protections administrator and participate on the Institutional Review Board for human subjects research. The person in this position must possess: leadership ability, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, effective writing and critical thinking skills, and have the ability to receive and provide feedback.

• Master's degree or higher.


• At least four years' experience in grant and contract administration


• Advanced knowledge of the major areas of regulatory compliance


• Technologically proficient in the area of electronic research administration


• Passing of criminal back ground check (upon hire)


• Effective communication with internal and external constituents.


• A high level of expertise and understanding in pre-award, post-award, and regulatory compliance matters


• Ability to problem-solve


• Ability to delegate and manage workflow


• Effective teamwork and leadership


• Effective crisis management


• Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.

• Four or more years' experience directing or in a leadership role in a university sponsored programs office


• Experience in university policy development and compliance administration


• Experience in human research protections

• Participate fully in professional development activities.


• Participate fully in university-wide activities, committee work and other activities as assigned


• Act professionally, performing job in a way that reflects positively on EWU, Academic Affairs, and the Office of Grant and Research Development


• Maintain confidentiality


• Perform job in accordance with best practices in the field


• Keep Vice Provost informed of work and of any areas of concern


• Work effectively across all units and levels of the university
