Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician program at North Seattle College is seeking applicants for a full time, tenure track Pharmacy Technician instructor to teach any of the following courses: Pharmacy Law, Orientation to Pharmacy, Pharmacy Calculations, Pharmacy Records Management, Over the Counter Drugs, Pharmacology, Sterile Products and Aseptic Techniques, Communication in Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technology, Ethics and Medical Terminology. Class assignments may include day, evening, hybrid, and/or online.

We are looking for an exceptional colleague with an understanding of the mission of an open enrollment institution and an ability to promote student success in a learner-centered environment. A willingness to use technology to support learning in different modalities, including teaching online and hybrid; knowledge of assessment strategies for student learning outcomes; effective communication skills; ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment; a willingness to work collaboratively to make a contribution, and to grow and learn professionally are required.

This position will be open until filled.

Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.

Essential Functions:
This full time, tenure-track position may include day, evening and weekend classes. In addition, the instructor is responsible for updating and developing courses, curricula, and assessment methods, and providing academic and career advisement to students. The instructor is expected to participate in department and campus committees, initiatives and events as well as professional development activities, and to keep abreast of trends in Pharmacy Technology on all levels. The faculty member will work cooperatively with community partners and other faculty to ensure that students receive education and training that gives them current and marketable employment skills. This position reports to the Dean of Workforce Instruction.
  • Prepare and teach classes to a diverse population

  • Participate in proposing and developing new offerings as well as adjusting and revising curriculum.
  • Assist with ASHP related accreditation reporting activities
  • Teach classes and perform other professional responsibilities as outlined in the AFT Seattle Local 1789 and the Seattle Community Colleges Board of Trustees Agreement.


Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
  • Current unencumbered Washington State Pharmacist license (to teach Law and Pharmacology) or current Washington State Pharmacy Technician license and work experience in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated classroom or training experience
  • Experience working with or serving diverse populations or teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Ability to use technology effectively
