Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: August 17, 2017 (negotiable).

RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinically, candidate will provide intake, comprehensive assessment, individual/group education/treatment, referrals, and case management services in accordance with standards of best practice. Client records will be maintained in accordance with legal and ethical standards and will adhere specifically to the Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism and Sustance Abuse Rule 2060 and the Secretary of State's mandates for evaluations. Candidate will provide clinical supervision to graduate assistants and practicum /intern students as assigned and will participate in group supervision. Candidate will participate in the Quality Assurance and the Program Evaluation systems. Administratively, candidate will ensure quality programming for AOD education, behavioral health issues, coordinate AOD prevention activities and Health Education, and other issues impacting the health of college students. Candidate will supervise staff, graduate assistants, practicum/interns, peer educators, student workers and volunteers in the development and implementation of campus-wide educational programming in student, faculty, and staff settings. Candidate will collaborate with other departments/organizations on campus. Candidate will participate in comprehensive alcohol/drug policy committee work.

RANK & SALARY: A continuous full-time, 11-month Health Education Specialist position at the Alcohol and Other Drugs Resource Center (AODRC), a division of Beu Health Center (BHC). Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must have:
Masters degree in an education or human services-related field.
Skills, training and experience to provide individual and group alcohol/substance abuse treatment, education, prevention programming, and presentations.
Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, including public speaking, and the ability to produce written proposals and reports.
Evidence of strong organizational and clinical record-keeping skills.
Experience with current technology and computer systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in CQI and Quality Assurance processes, including chart reviews and utilization reviews.
Experience in measuring prevention and intervention-related goals and outcomes.
Knowledge or experience in creating and providing programming in the areas of: anger management, conflict de-escalation, STD prevention, sexual assault, suicide prevention, and/or other behavioral health issues.
Experience in higher education.
Experience assessing and treating substance abuse problems and/or dual diagnosis mental health issues.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment that includes interacting with allied professionals.
Ability to research and provide data on best practices in the field of alcohol and substance abuse in the college setting.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).

THE DEPARTMENT: The AOD Resource Center is licensed by the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,430): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
