Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track, Hospitality and Tourism Instructor/Coordinator Instructor. In addition to those responsibilities listed below, areas of responsibility of the Hospitality and Tourism Instructor/coordinator include (1) teaching assignments in Hospitality/Tourism, as well as other assigned courses among the Department of Business offerings; (2) teaching classes as assigned, given the class day-of-week, time-of-day, and location schedule; (3) providing guidance to part-time Hospitality/Tourism instructors; (4) assisting the Department Chair and/or Dean as requested; (5) selecting textbooks in the Hospitality/Tourism discipline; and 6) coordinating the Hospitality and Tourism program performing tasks related to the development of curriculum, marketing, student recruitment, managing the advisory board, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Hospitality/Tourism, or closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
2. One year (30 semester credit equivalent) of college-level teaching experience related to the major teaching assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Doctorate degree in Hospitality/Tourism or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Teaching experience equivalent to two academic years (60 semester credit equivalent) at the college level in both online and classroom instruction.
3. Two years professional experience in the field of Hospitality/Tourism

Responsibilities:
Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

1. Teach 12 credit or contact hours as well as 3 credit or contact hours devoted to Hospitality/Tourism program coordination.
2. Prepare lesson plans and course syllabi, create teaching aids, and provide students with instructional materials and activities for classroom use and as homework assignments.
3. Instruct students in Hospitality/Tourism and other assigned subjects using appropriate course objectives, learning outcomes, and measures developed by Division of Business and Social Sciences faculty and evaluated by a college-wide Curriculum Review Committee (CRC).
4. Regularly assess courses taught, and participate in formal course and program assessment conducted by the department.
5. Assist with curriculum review and revision; and develop new course materials and pedagogical techniques to facilitate student learning of Hospitality/Tourism and other assigned subjects.
6. Utilize standard computer and associated instructional technologies to instruct in the classroom.
7. Teach or supplement instruction with distance education platforms/learning management systems.
8. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades, and submit grades on time electronically.
9. Hold a weekly minimum of 5 regular, published office hours on campus during the academic year.
10. Participate in student advisement, recruitment and retention efforts.
11. Attend and participate in non-classroom activities including department and division meetings, professional development workshops, college or NSHE committees, and community service activities.
12. Annually define short-term and long-term professional development goals to remain current in the discipline.
13. Understand and accept the role to be played as a partner in an educational enterprise serving the best interests of the students.
14. Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission, and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.
15. Teach day, evening and/or weekend classes at one or more college locations as well as online classes.
16. Specific responsibilities related to the 3-credit reassignment as coordinator of the Hospitality/Tourism program include:
A. Coordinating with and advising the department chair
B. Scheduling classes and instructors
C. Observing and mentoring instructors
D. Management and oversight of the Hospitality/Tourism Advisory Board (membership, meeting planning, communications, etc)
E. Maintain Hospitality/Tourism program currency and relevance
F. Community outreach
G. Participation in relevant community events
H. Marketing the program
I. Student advisement
J. Continuous program development, improvement, and partnerships
17. Other duties as assigned.

Salary Information:
$46,691 - $70,038, Salary placement is dependent on education and experience.
