Instructor in Art Studio & Art History

Position Summary
The Instructor in Art Studio & Art History teaches a range of Art Studio and Art History courses. This is a part-time, non-tenure-track position.

Essential Functions
The Instructor in Art Studio & Art History teaches a range of Art Studio and Art History courses. Studio Art courses include all areas of 2-D and 3-D disciplines, inclusive of digital photography. Art History courses include Ancient through Medieval, Renaissance to Modern, Issues in Contemporary Art, Contemporary Survey, and Masterworks of World Art.

The Instructor in Art Studio & Art History conducts lectures, leads classroom discussion, and other classroom activities. Instructors are expected to construct assignments and examinations and other performance-based activities that provide evidence of learning by students in the course. Instructors work collaboratively with department faculty to ensure that standard curriculum outcomes are met. Instructors adhere to all UIW policies and procedures, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.

Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission.

Job Duties



Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Thorough knowledge of course materials/topics in specialized studio discipline and area of art history expertise;
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with studio populations;
-Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills;
-Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents;
-Ability to learn from students participation, demonstrates fair and consistent behavior in all matters, and shows compassion without being ineffectual;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
-MFA required for Studio Courses;
-PhD required for Art History; ABD considered.

Required Work Experience
One (1) year of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level, with documentation of student evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) to three (3) years successful experience teaching at the undergraduate level, with documentation of student evaluations

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations


Work Hours
Work hours are determined by the courses assigned.
