JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Lab Technician will work on sample characterization and sample machining for the Center for Heat Treating Excellence (CHTE) projects under the direction of CHTE faculty and researchers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lab Technician will work with CHTE faculty and researchers in the CHTE labs to complete sample characterization and sample machining for various CHTE projects including Austempering to Form Bainite, Heat Treatment of Additively Manufactured Parts, Ferritic Nitrocarburizing, and Post-processing of AM to Improve the Mechanical Properties. The Lab Technician will work under the direction of CHTE faculty.

Sample characterization requires working with the following equipment:

Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)
X-ray diffraction (XRD)
Optical Microscopy
Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS)
Vickers Microhardness
Rockwell Hardness
