Position Summary:
This position will perform custodial and maintenance related tasks to ensure proper cleanliness of assigned areas including a variety of basic maintenance tasks in mechanical and/or related areas. At times as needed, the position will be assigned other areas to cover for other individuals and collaborate with others on large projects.

Essential Functions:
- Clean various public areas in and around Siegal Center
- Clean and sanitize/disinfect showers, restrooms, sinks, toilets
- Refill soap, toilet paper, and paper towels as necessary
- Sweep, mop, dust surfaces, and vacuum
- Use machines to scrub, buff/polish, strip, and wax hard floors as needed
- Clean up debris/garbage by main entrance and Harvard Ave, including the alley.
- Daily, mop the sidewalk in the exterior entrance area with specific cleansers. Power wash/ use blower if necessary
- Empty garbage, recycling, and compost containers from conference rooms, break rooms, and other common areas
- Clean both sides of windows and window sills by main entrance, offices, and on cubicles. Clean interior of windows and window sills on 2nd floor welcome desk, Jim Christiansen Room, 2nd floor break room, and all common areas
- Help staff with event set up and take down
- Vacuum and clean carpets with shampooer and extractor, use spot cleaner for stains between carpet shampoo/extractions
- Remove graffiti (assistance available from Seattle Central painters)
- Shovel snow, ice and sand from walkways, steps and entryways and apply ice melt products
- Move furniture, equipment and supplies, including assisting Surplus with loading heavy materials for delivery
- Clean whiteboards in all conference rooms
- Clean elevators and elevator door tracks
- Replace light bulbs
- Maintain parts and equipment supplies, parts catalogs, and equipment maintenance records
- Replace air filters; monitor functions of HVAC systems and report issues to HVAC personnel at Seattle Central
- Perform minor repairs on plumbing fixtures, furniture, cabinets, doors and partitions; repair and maintain vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and other custodial equipment
- Patch, paint and repair painted surfaces
- Report to Supervisor or lead person any larger maintenance repairs needed in assigned area; follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding maintenance and custodial tasks
- Improve work methods and skills, knowledge of equipment, supplies and safety through participation in training
- Secure areas when not in use; check doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants
- Perform any related work as assigned by Supervisor and/or Director
Required Education, Experience & Abilities:
- Demonstrated aptitude, skill, and ability or documented one-year experience in general maintenance
- Experience performing professional and/or large scale custodial services
- Physical ability to do required work, including ability to lift at least 50 pounds independently
- Adequate verbal, written, and reading English skills to communicate with supervisors and other custodial staff
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff
- Proactive, self-motivated, organized, and ability to work independently and as a member of a team on large scale projects
- Ability to work with diverse populations in a positive, welcoming, and professional manner
