California State University, Dominguez Hills, was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University system. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of over 12,500 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Position Information:

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Department: Academic Technology

The Division of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership and support in information technology for the entire CSU Dominguez Hills community. The Division promotes IT solutions that improve the teaching, learning, research, and administrative environment of the University. The Vice President/CITO provides overall management of the Division of IT. The Division of Information Technology is comprised for four operational groups: IT Service Management, Academic Technology, Infrastructure Services, and Enterprise Applications..

Major Job Duties:
Working under the supervision of Academic Technology Manager, the Media Production Specialist will work with the TV and Media Production team and Instructional Designer in Media and TV Production to provide media and TV pre-production, production and post-production support for, but not limited to, live and interactive online and cable TV courses, live location productions of forums, seminars, theater plays and concerts.
Day-to-day work is performed relatively independently under general supervision with guidance provided for priorities and new assignments. Actions and problem-solving are guided by standard TV and Media practices. It is crucial that one establish and maintain productive working relationships with faculty, other staff members, and students.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience working with technology including media and internet applications, video chat or VolP (skype) and working as a member of a team. Prior experience working as an instructional designer within higher education, video production in higher education, involvement in the creation and leadership of live TV production in distance learning.

Knowledge of:
Correct English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, learning theory, good teaching practices, curriculum development, instructional materials, training models, use of media for instruction, operation of technology, use of software applications, distance learning principles and practices Abilities and skills: Coordinate many tasks, assign priorities, set deadlines and complete projects on time, work successfully with diverse personalities, understand varied curricula, persuade faculty to consider alternatives to traditional teaching practices, develop creative responses to problems, generate enthusiasm for teaching distance learning courses, supervise student assistants in preparation of materials and broadcast of televised/internet classes. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office 2007 and newer, Learning management systems, blackboard, video chat or VolP (Skype), inscriber character generator, the Adobe CS6 and Cloud based Production software package, program Image 360 server; ability to program, setup and utilize a 1 Beyond streaming system. Ability to utilize all aspects of the JVC HM-100 and Gy-HM650 Mobile News Camera (firmware version 3.0).

Experience and Education:

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.

Required Experience:
A basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is: $3,470 - $6,486 monthly.
