PURPOSE OF POSITION

:

Provides leadership for the Nursing Program. Coordinates and ensures nursing program adherence to the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) rules and supports the Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE) operating guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

:



  1. Administration for the Nursing Program (65%)

1.1. Coordinates and ensures Nursing Program adherence to the Oregon State Board of Nursing Division 21 Rules and Regulations.

1.2. Ensures compliance with the Oregon State Board of Nursing

1.3. Coordinates and ensures Nursing Program adherence to the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE) operating guidelines.

1.4. Supports and ensures program and College accreditation.

1.5. Supervises full-time and associate faculty in the nursing program.

1.6. Facilitates faculty recruitment efforts for the nursing program.

1.7. Collaborates in the development of faculty and student schedules for the nursing program.

1.8. Provide student support and oversee faculty and student concerns.

1.9. Contributes to the budget review and collaborates with college admissions and advising related to program entry.

1.10. Develops, updates, and maintains programmatic policies and handbooks.

1.11. Promote Nursing Program

2. Leadership (35%)

2.1. Provides leadership for the Nursing Program

2.2. Serves as liaison between Clackamas Community College Nursing and the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN).

2.3. Fosters and maintains an environment conducive to teaching and learning, including coordination and support of faculty assignments.

2.4. Provides leadership in and contributes to the college's diversity plan by fostering an environment of cooperation between students, staff and the public who represent a variety of cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.

2.5. Aligns instructional culture with principles and practices of equitable and inclusive teaching and learning.

2.6. Coordinates program activities, delegates responsibilities to faculty as appropriate.

2.7. Provides leadership in curriculum design, instructional delivery, accreditation, and assessment activities.

2.8. Maintains relationships with RN-BSN programs with whom the CCC nursing program has affiliation agreements and with other RN-BSN programs.

2.9. Serves as a liaison between programs and employers.

2.10. Assists in the development of marketing strategies leading to program recognition and growth.

SUPPLEMENTARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
  • Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

:

The Nurse Administrator must hold at least a Master's degree in Nursing with documentation of preparation or experience in curriculum and teaching; and have at least four years of full-time nursing experience or the equivalent, of which two years must have been in patient care, and two years must have been as a Nurse Educator or administrative position in a Nursing education program.

Current, unencumbered state of Oregon License in Nursing.

Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES

:

Current CPR certification or ability to obtain certification prior to first day of employment. This position works with sensitive confidential data and must pass a criminal background check prior to starting.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Familiarity with the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education and Student Max/Clinical Placement in the Portland Metropolitan region.

WORKING CONDITIONS

:

The position requires minimal (20-40%) ability to use dexterity and fine motor skills assemble, build or repair machines or other objects. Frequent (51-80% of the time) use of office equipment.

The position requires minimal (5-20%) physical effort such as lifting, carrying, or movement, etc. Movements required to complete work are not difficult, and only require some degree of agility and hand eye coordination.

The work environment is protected with only some occasional hazards or obstacles (20-40%). There is a moderately low level of personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are occasionally uncomfortable, with moderate (20-40%) issues of confinement, temperature change, incident of noise, or interactions of a disagreeable nature, inside/outside work, dirty conditions, exposure to contagious disease, etc. Position may have some responsibility for driving.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Responsible for assigning work to and for the supervision of full-time and part-time employees, as well as student workers. Provides training and orientation to newly assigned personnel.

:

This position works under the general direction of the Director of Health Sciences.
