Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education (SMGE) offers undergraduate programs in Middle Grades Education and Secondary Education as well as graduate programs (M.A.T., M.Ed., Ed.S., Ed.D.) in various middle and secondary area concentrations. Service courses are also offered to support secondary, elementary, and PK-12 programs. The department faculty are committed to the development of expertise in teaching and learning in collaboration with units across campus and local school districts. Our programs foster the development of knowledge, skills, and dispositions required of educators who design and implement integrated instructional programs for learners that are developmentally and culturally responsive.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time faculty positions in the Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education for the academic year 2022-2023. These positions are on an as needed basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Area of specialization may include mathematics, science, social studies, or language arts.
  • Teaching expectations may include graduate and undergraduate content and pedagogy
  • Student teaching/clinical supervision at grades 6-12.
  • Teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community


Required Qualifications

Minimum degree: An earned Master's degree, or foreign equivalent. Area of specialization may include: Grades 6-12 mathematics, English/language arts, social studies, or science; research; educational psychology, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • P-12 Teaching License/Certification
  • P-12 teaching experience
  • Specific experiences or skills (e.g., prior teaching, familiarity with specific techniques)
  • Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community
  • Experience teaching on-line and/or hybrid courses
  • Record of past teaching at a particular level (e.g., graduate vs. undergraduate) or area (sub-discipline)
