Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Program Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Welcome Center, providing information and referral to prospective and current students, staff, and/or the public regarding general campus policies, procedures and activities. Directs the work of the Student Ambassadors assigned to the center.

Typical Duties:
  • Provide quality customer service, information and referrals to faculty, staff, students and visitors of the College regarding general campus policies, procedures, services and activities, in-person, via email and telephone.
  • Ensure Welcome Center is clean, organized and ensure that informational materials in the Welcome Center are kept current.
  • Maintain and keep up-to-date a comprehensive file of resource materials such as campus brochures, maps, and information sheets.
  • Assist prospective and current students with college processes such as admission and graduation applications, password and login resets, printer code and student identification number (SID) retrieval, etc.
  • Monitor and maintain the campus tours e-mail account. Serve as point person for general campus tour attendees reserved online.
  • Respond to requests for general campus tours, confirm schedule, provide parking permits, track attendance and collaborate with the Outreach department for current tour materials.
  • Greet and check-in tour attendees. At conclusion of tour, assist with answering questions and with completion of EvCC Admissions application and review Getting Started checklist for next steps.
  • Operate EvCC Student ID card system.
  • Gather data and prepare quarterly reports of tour participants, student ids/badges and Welcome Center usage.
  • Provide day-to-day troubleshooting and keep inventory of supplies for the Welcome Center equipment, such as Student ID card system, take a ticket system, computers, copy machine and digital signage. Order supplies and request services when needed.
  • Train and direct the work of Student Ambassadors during their work shifts in the Welcome Center and attend weekly Student Ambassador meeting.
  • Track customer usage of the Welcome Center (types of questions, time of day, etc.)
  • Communicate with other offices and personnel on campus for collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Manage and keep current assigned college web page(s).

    Minimum Qualifications:
    High School graduation AND two years of full-time customer service experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google products.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience in a college environment.
    Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
    Proficient in language(s) in addition to English.

    Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Hours will be set based on Department needs. Some variation seasonally is expected based on campus scheduling.
