Responsibilities*
The CLINIC RN will:Provide nursing care for the adult otolaryngology patient population through use of procedures and protocols.Assist/Support faculty in the procedure/treatment room with minor and complex procedures.Provide telephone triage and advice and provide patient education for acute and chronic otolaryngology conditions including pre and post op care, direct clinical care, and nursing documentation using the Epic system.Provide pre-operative teaching, counseling, and obtain informed consent for a variety of Otolaryngology surgical procedures.Have knowledge and coordination of internal and external resources for patient care.Assist in maintaining patient flow in clinic and support assistive staff as needed.Participate in Adult Otolaryngology clinic team meetings to continually improve clinic processes.Work with providers and other disciplines to carry out clinical standards of care in the Department of Otolaryngology and provide continuity of care.Incorporate service excellence which supports the mission and philosophy of the organization.Participate and assist with ongoing research.Assist in the development and implementation of competencies, protocols, and patient education tools to improve patient care.Practice quality improvement utilizing LEAN concepts in daily work.Maintain knowledge of nursing practice by utilizing current nursing and healthcare literature for information and problem solving.Be willing to travel to other otolaryngology clinics with the expansion of the department.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

  • Evening Shift Differential- $2.35 per hour
  • Night Shift Differential- $3.20 per hour

Required Qualifications*
  • Current license to practice Nursing in the State of Michigan
  • Minimum of four (4) years RN experience, with adult surgical patient population
  • Two years of recent, within the last four (4) years RN experience with the surgical OTO population

  • Demonstrated skills to organize and manage multiple interventions simultaneously understanding acuity and urgency in prioritizing duties.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in accepting changing clinical assignments on short notice.
  • Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, using an electronic medical record, and Microsoft Office and calendaring experience.

Work Schedule
Hours: 40 hours per week
Days/ Shift: Day shift; variable days; variable hours depending on clinic needs
Location: Taubman Center
* Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
