Residential Education Specialist 1 (Coordinator)

The Residential Education Specialist 1 (Coordinator) reports to the Associate Director of Student Affairs and is responsible for assisting with the supervision and administration of a residence life program serving approximately 200 students. Oversee and supervise the daily operations of 4 resident assistants, advising residence hall councils, program development and conflict resolutions. This position is responsible for implementation of the Community Standards system within the residence hall, on-call duty rotation, and crisis management. Assist in departmental responsibilities including the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of resident assistants. Collaboration, communication, and committee work with multiple campus constituencies including Housing and Food Services, Police and Safety, Personal Counseling, Student Activities, and the Division of Undergraduate Studies. Must demonstrate a commitment to the development of a community where diversity and sustainability are valued. Provide leadership and oversight for the campus residential curriculum. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Student Personnel/Counseling or related areas is preferred. Driver's license preferred. If operating a University vehicle for this position, candidate will be required to successfully complete a motor vehicle records check in addition to standard background checks. This is a live-in, annual position typically funded for up to four years. Appointments will be made on an annual basis based on continued satisfactory performance. Start date will be July 15, 2019. This is an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Months off are mid-May to mid-July each year. Full Penn State benefits included.
