GRANT FUNDED POSTION - THE GRANT IS EXPECTED TO END IN JULY 2022

DEFINITION:
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean, Pathways, the position will work closely with faculty and staff in a variety of offices on campus to develop and foster transfer opportunities for students at the Pasadena Area Community College District (the District). The position will have primary responsibilities in the areas of identifying transfer opportunities for students, coordination of college/university transfer tours, identifying potential learning experiences for students at research based four year colleges/universities, and in maintaining transfer policies and procedures.

The position will need to work successfully with staff in the District's Pathways program and Transfer Center in providing specialized support for all transfer practices, procedures, and workshops. This includes creating curriculum for transfer workshops and editing transfer applications. The position is expected to possess organizational skills that will allow the incumbent to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with different departments in organizing and facilitating transfer tours and placing students in learning experiences with local research colleges/universities that will ensure the students' academic growth.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: TRANSFER SUPPORT
  • Researches transfer opportunities for students within assigned programs.
  • Assists with university representative visits to the college.
  • Assists with the organization of transfer application workshops, how to transfer workshops, college fairs, and classroom presentations.
  • Markets upcoming transfer programs, services, workshops and events through various communication venues including social media.
  • Assists with support materials for transfer workshops and assists in creating workshop curriculum.
  • Reviews and revises transfer applications.
  • Prepares statistical reports on transfer success for District and external purposes.
  • Provides information to students, faculty, staff and the public on District, Federal, and State procedures relating to the transfer process.

    TRANSFER TOUR COORDINATION
  • Researches, identifies, organizes, schedules, and chaperones transfer visits to four year institutions throughout the year.
  • Makes all logistical travel arrangements.
  • Assists with the administration of the transfer tour budget.
  • Completes all required paperwork to ensure safety and compliance with District policies and regulations.
  • Evaluates the impact of effectiveness of eld trip experiences.
  • Completes all post visit procedures including the evaluation of the efficacy of transfer tour experiences.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with transfer institutions.

    RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES COORDINATION
  • Establishes research opportunities for students at local colleges/universities.
  • Completes all required paperwork to ensure safety and compliance with District policies and regulations.
  • Monitors student progress, evaluates, and reports student progress at appropriate times.
  • Evaluates the efficacy these learning experiences.

    TRANSFER PROCESSES
  • Researches current college, state, and national processes for successful student transfer.
  • Assists in revising and updating District transfer practices as needed.
  • Maintains up to date with changes in state, federal, and college policies and procedures regarding student transfer.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
    is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • An Associate's Degree from an accredited college; AND
  • Two years of related experience.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Psychology, Sociology, and Business.
  • Experience working with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) students in a community college setting.
  • Experience working in student services related to transfer policies, procedures, and state regulations in an institution of higher education.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    This position will require the continuous exhibition of mobility and communication skill and the frequent repetitive movement of the dominant hand and fingers
    - typing and/or writing. The position will infrequently push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing 10lbs or less, and infrequently be required grasp objects with a simple/light clasp with both hands.

    ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS:
    The position will continuously work within a moderate office environment and be continuously exposed to contact with customers, end users, and the general public while working with groups, attending meetings, workshops, and other events. The position will occasionally be required be outside in a moderate outdoor environment during transfer tours and during the travel to conferences, tour sites, and workshops. The position will be occasionally exposed to noise levels that will range from quiet to loud during private and public events.

    EXEMPT POSITION:
    This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime.

    PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
    One year.

    Salary and other terms of employment are competitive. Placement is at Range 49 on the District's California Federation of Teachers Represented Salary Schedule which
    is available online at www.pasadena.edu.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
