Position Description
Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions

Monitors and/or supervises preventive maintenance on electrical equipment assigned.
Reviews new construction project plans. Review work orders.
Assists with both short and long term needs of the Central Heating and Cooling Plants (CHACP).
Assists both Building Maintenance and Construction (BMC) and CHACP to schedule work orders and projects.
Communicates with CHACP personnel to identify and resolve electrical needs.
Secures vehicle, equipment, and areas of operations. Operates vehicles including pickups, trucks, vans, forklifts, trailers, lifts and tanks.
Advises shop foreman on job or project status and operational problems. Provides after hour overtime work as required.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyperson.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in an industrial environment. Working knowledge of high-voltage equipment and Maintenance of such equipment.
Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), Arc Flash protection and proper use of PPE.
