Job Summary
The Women's Health Program is looking for a qualified candidate for the position of Birth Center Tour Docent (REG). This position will give tours of Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital's Birth Center to expectant mothers and their support person.

Responsibilities*
The Tour Docent will compile tour materials in advance of the tours and make edits to the tour PowerPoint presentation as needed. The Tour Docent will work with the Women's Health Program Manager to address any solve any issues that arise related to the tours. On the day of the tours, the docent will set-up the tour presentation and the conference room. She/he will welcome tour attendants and present information to them. She/he will then physically lead them on a tour of the Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital's Birth Center. The docent is responsible for cleaning-up the conference at the conclusion of each tour. The Tour Docent will provide a brief summary of the tour to the Women's Health Program Manager.

Required Qualifications*
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience speaking to large groups.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students and community members.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Good attendance, punctuality, flexibility and confidence.
  • Experience with technology; specifically, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint).
  • High school diploma.

Additional Information
Tuesdays: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Thursdays: 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

First Saturday of the month: 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Approximately 23 - 27 hours/month

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
