Job Summary
The University of Michigan's Property Disposition Department has an exciting opportunity to employ a Warehouse Supervisor. Property Disposition is a division of Procurement Services, which manages a diverse selection of goods and services, offering the university community key business services including procurement, travel & expense, space analysis, property control, printing, copying, and mailing services, and property disposition. This position will supervise 2-3 full-time and temporary employees.

As a Warehouse Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for managing disposition operations for University owned surplus property. Day to day operational duties include but are not limited to: determination of pricing, sales management, customer relations management, inventory management, delivery logistics, and ensuring efficient and safe removal of property. This role requires someone who can work under minimal supervision and is self-motivated and dependable.

Please note: This is a 2 year term-limited position.

Responsibilities*
  • Lead/perform asset disposition activities to support overall mission of the Office of Property Disposition. Focus will be mainly furniture, lab/medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Confirm receipt of surplus items, manages discrepancies, and ensure proper documentation is completed and filed correctly
  • Ensure all received items are entered into the inventory system quickly and efficiently
  • Ensure inventory system is accurate, by monitoring reports, and conducting frequent audits
  • Ensure the warehouse is a clean and safe environment
  • Determine best sales method of surplus property
  • Identify new and maximize existing sales channels
  • Ensure all initial item pricing and pricing reductions are conducted consistently within standard pricing policies
  • Ensure compliance with all university policies and government regulations
  • Review inventory throughput and sales results and communicate outcomes to leadership on an ongoing basis
  • Use leadership, analytical, and creative problem solving skills, as well as interpersonal and communication skills to resolve issues
  • Provide accurate time estimates for tasks, identify impacted teams, and notify management of potential risks and issues

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Lead role leading teams of both direct and indirect supervision
  • Successful track record of providing leadership to deliver repeatable, high quality service delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to react quickly, lead, and perform exceptionally well during critical events
  • Strong technical skills in the Google suite as well as Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to adapt and learn other hardware and software as it relates to the role
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment without air conditioning
  • Routinely move and transport up to 50lbs

  • Strong customer communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical customers
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams of technical personnel responsible for operational management
  • Certified to operate an electric forklift
