Postdoctoral Research Associate

About the Opportunity

Job Summary:

Ozdemir Research Group (www.ozdemirresearchgroup.com) is recruiting a motivated postdoctoral research associate to: (1) conduct cutting edge research in the field of wire arc directed energy deposition and cold spray additive manufacturing processes through the use of multiphysics modeling and experimental research tools; (2) disseminate research findings in high impact journals and international conferences; (3) assist the PI (Prof. Ozan . zdemir, Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering) in the management of the zdemir Research Group Laboratory spaces and the coordination of laboratory activities; and (4) take part in grant writing and mentoring. While producing significant research value, the postdoctoral researcher will expand their research portfolio, gain experience in mentoring, project management, proposal writing, and sharpen skills needed in an academic career path.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong experience in computational fluid dynamics modeling of multiphase and multiphysics problems
  • Experience in programming with common computer languages (Python, Matlab, C/C++,etc.) and writing standalone programs and subroutines
  • Strong experience in working with custom experimental hardware, data acquisition, programming PLC/Arduino logic controllers and willingness to carry out fluid dynamics experiments
  • Experience in additive manufacturing research (wire arc additive manufacturing and cold spray additive manufacturing are preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability or willingness to learn to read mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
  • A motivated and result oriented personality
  • A team player who is accepting of all members the Ozdemir Research Group and Northeastern University and embraces diversity
