Posting Context Statement:
This position works with the Co-Directors of the Institute for Health in the Human Ecosystem (IHHE) to plan, implement, evaluate and summarize programming. It organizes IHHE training, outreach, the annual international course, keynote presentation, research symposium and scholarship programs. The role ensures compliance with funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), creating FOA-specific checklists and meeting deadlines for IHHE, college and Sponsored Programs. The position also assists with pre-award budget development, report submissions and compliance with federal, state and university policies. It maintains accurate records and supports IHHE advisory committee meetings.
Position Overview:
This position supports the planning and completion of educational, outreach or professional programs; working with program staff, students, the public and/or agencies, to plan and oversee program activities. May lead a distinct area for the program such as outreach, assessment or financial management.
Duties may include:
- Participate in the development and implementation of program deliverables, services and activities
- Coordinate a team with a variety array of talents and responsibilities
- Collect, compile and summarize program data for reports
- Participate in developing program operating goals, objectives and protocols
- Maintain program budgets, monitoring and reviewing transactions for compliance with program requirements
- Active participation in the development and submission of program proposals
- Lead collection and compilation of program assessment data
- May supervise the work of others or lead a team to accomplish assigned goals
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
- Two years of program coordination or program management experience
- Working in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
- Collecting, compiling, summarizing and analyzing data for administrative reports
Required Education:
- Bachelors Degree; four additional years of experience (for a total of six years) may substitute for a Bachelors Degree
Required Other:
- None
Additional Preferred:
- Master of Science (MS) degree or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in biological sciences
- Familiarity with UI VERAS system and NIH, NSF, USDA, and DOD reporting systems
- Evidence of completion of scientific research and a record of peer-reviewed scientific publications in biological sciences
- Analyzing information, troubleshooting, defining alternatives and developing recommendations for management/administrators
- Editing and writing scientific materials and business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
- Interpreting and applying terms and conditions of grants and contracts
- Developing and evaluating program procedures and recommending changes
