St. Catherine University invites applications for full-time Loan & Collections Coordinator.

This Loans & Collections Coordinator is responsible for administering the loan programs, including all aspects of the loans from disbursement through repayment to include reconciling from the third party transaction reports to the general ledger. This position is responsible for customer service for students, parents, faculty and staff. This position also manages all collections and assignments for delinquent student accounts and loans.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage new loan awards or changes; reconcile loan disbursements to students
  • Manage promissory notes - entrance/exit counseling
  • Prepare and process journal entries to record loan activity to the general ledger
  • Review and place delinquent loans with collections
  • Assigns loans to the government, process approved write-offs to HRSA and internally
  • Reconciles reporting differences between the general ledger and third party processor
  • Prepare and file required annual compliance reports or FISAP
  • Assist with annual financial statement audit and single audit (financial aid)
  • Calculate and submit returns of excess cash
  • Uploads non cash payments
  • Customer service with student, staff and faculty
  • Phone and email correspondence
  • Actively tracks and monitors student, loan, and payment plan accounts for potential delinquency or default.
  • Manages the collection efforts and assignments to third party collection agencies for delinquent student accounts as well as delinquent or defaulted Perkins and nursing student loans.
  • Assist with skip tracing and other efforts to manage past due accounts.
  • Partner with collection agencies to ensure adherence to collection laws and procedures.
  • Monitor bankruptcy filings.
  • Prepare journal entries to record collection activities and transactions to the general ledger.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Review accounts annually for write-off recommendation.
  • In partnership with Director of Accounting Services and Controller, reviews and estimates allowance for doubtful accounts.
  • Support and back up implementations and upgrades in Touchnet, 1098T processing, tuition billing, and appeals.
  • Support and backup preparation of daily cash drawers and bank deposits as needed.

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance or a related business area, and
    two (2) years of accounting experience including account reconciliation, accounts receivables collections and or government compliance reporting and demonstrated customer service experience
  • Or five (5) years of work experience including accounting experience including account reconciliation, accounts receivables collections and or government compliance reporting and demonstrated customer service experience



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related business area, and
    one (1) year of accounting experience including account reconciliation, accounts receivables collections and or government compliance reporting and demonstrated customer service experience
