IT Project Manager Sr.

Job Summary

Is fast-paced work, a culturally diverse team with an excellent team culture something you are looking for in your next job? The University of Utah has an immediate opening for an Sr. IT Project Manager for the Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC).
This position will be responsible for the overall planning, management and completion of projects across the DCC. The Sr. IT PM will work a cross-functional team, including: program directors, administrative staff, report developers, statisticians, data managers, IT staff and other project stakeholders. Typical projects include new initiatives and implementation of new technologies. This position will report to the IT Manager who leads the IT Project Management Office.

Responsibilities

Delivery Process: Accountable for the various projects that are under the ownership of this role. Ensure delivery to agreed time, cost and quality parameters. Ensure project goals are achieved on time in alignment with the stakeholders' expectation. Ability to manage both large, small, simple and complex projects. Ability to escalate and remove blocks to progress. Have proven delivery experience and capability which enables this role to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to junior project managers.
Quality, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all risk and issues associated with owned projects are recorded and managed in the appropriate Risk & Issue logs in a timely manner, according to project standards. Ensure all Risks and Issues have clear action/mitigation/contingency plans defined, with named action owners and timelines for completion.
Team Leadership: As a member of the team, contribute the development of talent and capabilities. Use experience to bring new ideas and to identify and challenge ineffective practices. Based on the proven experience this person will responsible for guiding, mentoring and coaching the junior project managers in the team. Manage the selection of project managers.
Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with others to improve our IT delivery methodology covering tools, sourcing, processes and quality assurance.
Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of projects
Think creatively about solutions to technical and non-technical problems
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
Facilitate effective meetings that produce clear action and consensus
Ensure that IT plan is consistent with project design and requirements
Build trusting relationships within and beyond the IT Team to achieve the goals and contribute to the success of the Utah DCC.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and at least 7 years of experience in the field or related area.

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification may be required depending on area of assignment.

Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Project Lifecycle Methodologies
Proven ability to lead effective teams, consisting of resources from multiple disciplines, and ability to effectively monitor and develop direct reports to ensure a timely and smooth operation
Strong analytical, leadership, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills
Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written
Healthcare, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), research experience
Experience with REDCap, Atlassian products, MS Project, Tableau Reporting
Background in project management and strategic planning skills
Proven excellence in leadership, negotiation and business skills
Experience providing technical support to non-technical audiences
Fluent in Spanish
