Position Summary
Are you passionate about providing essential administrative support to academic and research teams? The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at San Diego State University is seeking a dedicated Administrative Analyst Specialist to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to assist with the coordination of budgets, research funds, and recruitment processes, while ensuring efficient day-to-day operations for the College. As part of a collaborative team, you will support both academic and administrative functions, directly contributing to the success of the college's research and recruitment efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budget and Purchasing Support: Manage and track budget activities for both State and SDSU Research Foundation accounts. Assist with purchasing, p-Card use, and travel coordination in line with university policies.
- Research Fund Coordination: Oversee the day-to-day management of College (RSF) Research funds, ensuring they are utilized effectively to support the college's research agenda in coordination with the Dean.
- Recruitment and Student Assistant Tracking: Coordinate the recruitment and tracking of student assistants assigned to the college, including managing work-study budgets and hours.
- Staff and Faculty Recruitment Support: Act as a liaison between the College and the Center for Human Resources to support recruitment, including creating job descriptions, facilitating interview panels, and handling tasks within the PageUp system. For tenure/tenure-track faculty, assist with offer letters, pre-boarding, relocation, and onboarding processes.
- Decision-Making and Collaboration: Work closely with the Dean to ensure decisions align with university policies, strategic plans, and initiatives. Collaborate with campus HR to support recruitment efforts and ensure compliance with best practices.

Position Information
- Full-time, benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.
Department Summary
The College of Health and Human Services consists of six academic schools, four clinics, and numerous research centers and institutes. The college provides undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, as well as certificate and credential programs through Global Campus. There are over 200 full and part-time faculty and more than fifty administrative and technical staff. Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
Key Qualifications
- Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of basic methods and procedures for research and statistical analysis and the ability to apply them.
- Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques.
- Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the organizational unit.
- Proficiency with Excel.
- High level of organizational and time management skills required.
- Skill with developing processes and procedures for efficient and effective implementation of policy and guidelines.
- Knowledgeable about CSU and/or SDSU policies and procedures for budget, travel, P-card and other procurement methods preferred.
- Experience with SDSU Research Foundation accounts and systems for purchasing, travel and payments preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,167 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,879 - $7,488 per month.
