About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Director of High School Relations is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships between the football program and high school coaches across Texas and beyond. This role serves as the primary liaison between SMU's coaching staff and the high school football community, coordinating events, communication, and recruiting-related activities that support the overall personnel strategy and enhance program visibility.
Essential Functions:

Serve as the primary point of contact for high school coaches engaging with SMU.

Conduct weekly outreach through phone calls, emails, and marketing campaigns.

Manage access and ticket requests for high school coaches attending practices, meetings, and games.

Organize and host seasonal coach socials and relationship-building events.

Oversee the planning and execution of SMU Football Camps and Clinics for high school engagement.

Coordinate SMU staff attendance and speaking engagements at coaching clinics and conventions.

Plan itineraries and logistics for SMU staff participating in the THSCA Coaches Convention.

Collaborate with personnel staff on Texas-based prospect identification.

Support the prospect vetting process by gathering background and character information and Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on high school coaches and contacts in the recruiting database.

Help evaluate and track academic transcripts and core GPA for prospective student-athletes and Assist in planning and executing recruiting events, including Official Visits, Unofficial Visits, Junior Days, and Game Days.

Position requires regular evening or weekend work due to practices, games, visits, and events. Position requires occasional travel throughout Texas and occasionally beyond for recruiting, relationship-building events, and games.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree is required. Masters preferred. A degree in Sports Management, Education, or related field preferred.
A minimum of seven years of work experience in recruiting, athletic operations and/or football program coordination is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills. A strong focus on attention to detail is essential.
Candidate must have a strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. Must also have a strong working knowledge of NCAA recruiting compliance rules. Familiarity with recruiting database software (e.g. ARMS) is essential. NCAA recruiting certification, preferred.
