PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:
The Division of General Pediatrics and the Developmental Assessment Clinics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner. This full-time Nurse Practitioner will join a growing clinical team in a multi-disciplinary team of Pediatricians, Psychologists, Speech and Language Pathologists, and Occupational and Physical Therapists. Responsibilities include Saturday and evening pediatric primary care ambulatory services focused at our Sugar House Health Center, as well as weekday developmental assessment intake appointments, evaluations, and return patient visits at our Eccles Primary Children's Outpatient Services and South Main Clinic locations. Additional services at other locations may be required, depending on clinical need. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the entire care team to deliver excellent primary care.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
  • The Nurse Practitioner will provide pediatric primary care ambulatory services at our Sugar House Health Center, in collaboration with a team of Physicians, Medical Assistants, and Care Managers.
  • The Nurse Practitioner will provide pediatric intake, developmental evaluations, and return patient visits in our Developmental Assessment Clinics focused in our Child Development Program.
  • Conduct patient evaluations, including obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, making diagnoses, creating and managing treatment plans and documenting clinical encounters.
  • Participation in clinic(s) and division quality improvement initiatives.



Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required:Nearly Continuously: Office environment.Often: Infectious disease, oils (there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids), hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals).
Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required:
Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking.Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting.Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.


Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
