Grateful Patient Prospect Research Analyst

Job Summary

Prospect Analysts in the University Advancement Office support the fundraising efforts of the university advancement partners across campus including academic programs and centers, University of Utah Health, and auxiliary organizations. This support consists of performing research and analysis on prospective donors to the university and assisting in the design and implementation of prospective donor identification and relationship management strategies.
 
This position will primarily support the advancement needs of the U Health system, with a focus on providing business intelligence to better understand the philanthropic interests and inclinations of its various constituencies. The position will work closely with the Grateful Patient program and the greater Prospect Research teamResearch team, helping to access and interpret prospect data for U Health initiatives while remaining HIPAA compliant.
 
 
Position reports to the Director of Prospect Research in the University Advancement office.

Responsibilities
Prospect Research Analysts have the primary function of researching prospective major gift donors to the university and its auxiliary organizations. They identify, collect, and analyze publicly available biographical, organizational, and financial information to evaluate existing and potential donor prospects, using several internal and external online tools and databases. Resulting intelligence is then delivered to Advancement staff in a variety of forms including profiles and reports and used to enhance the University's advancement CRM. The position requires the use of extreme discretion as it involves working with highly confidential information. As a Grateful Patient Prospect Research Analyst, employee will be expected to develop an expertise on HIPAA-compliant patient data and use that expertise to liaise with the Prospect Research and Grateful Patient teams to identify or support the identification of potential donor prospects for U Health initiatives. | |

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related area of assignment (or equivalency) and two years of related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

Preferences
Two years of experience in a related field such as advancement (fundraising), library science, marketing, journalism, business intelligence, or technical writing; Demonstrated experience with data management systems; Experience and familiarity with working in a health care system; Excellent reading, writing, and editing skills and an ability to analyze, synthesize, and organize complex information; Ability to socialize and collaborate with Advancement staff and leadership; Fluency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook; Fluency in video conferencing apps such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams; Experience in prospect research, prospect management, and/or prospect analytics; Experience performing in-depth research, particularly with online databases and aggregators such as Lexis-Nexis, iWave, ResearchPoint, Foundation Directory, and Foundation Search; Experience using Salesforce or other relationship management data systems; Experience and understanding of non-profit fundraising; Understanding of basic statistics and comfort working with quantitative data; Familiarity with data modeling and data mining; Experience with projects making use of census, financial trends, genealogical, GIS, and marketing demographics datasets; Experience in public/private company valuation, real estate valuation, and analyzing SEC and IRS financial filings; Sense of curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
