The position reports to the Associate Vice President of Finance, supporting systems and operational initiatives within our finance and accounting division. This role emphasizes process improvement, financial systems optimization, particularly within Workday-and effective cross-functional collaboration in a higher education environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, an understanding of accounting and finance operations, and experience working with enterprise financial systems.
Work is performed in a hybrid capacity. Major Areas of Responsibility
Analyze and improve accounting and finance business processes, identifying enhancement opportunities using system-driven solutions.
Collaborate with key stakeholders across finance, operations, and IT to gather, document, and refine business and system requirements.
Support the maintenance, testing, and enhancement of Workday Financials, including configuration of modules like General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Customer Accounts, Grants Management, Financial Reporting, and Workday Strategic Sourcing.
Assist in the development and maintenance of standard and custom reports using Workday Report Writer, Worksheets, and Workday Prism Analytics.
Contribute to system upgrades, user acceptance testing, and training initiatives to promote adoption and system optimization.
Coordinate with campus partners to ensure data integrity and alignment across departments and systems.
Assist in financial period close activities and perform system-based reconciliations.
Create and maintain documentation, including workflows, process maps, and training materials.
Act as a central point of contact between the finance team and technical staff to bridge functional and system needs. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role with a focus on finance or accounting systems.
Experience working in or supporting a higher education institution strongly preferred.
Working experience with Workday Financials or similar ERP systems; experience with Workday Report Writer, Worksheets, or Prism Analytics preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting concepts in areas spanning the balance sheet and income statement activity.
Experience or familiarity with endowment accounting or fund accounting is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; additional analytical or integration tools a plus.
Ability to interpret technical information and convey it to functional users effectively.
Familiarity with data governance, system integrations, and financial compliance requirements.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project coordination skills.
High financial competency, strong time management and organizational skills, ability to define and structure work for self and others, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Core Competencies
