Job Summary


The University Memorial Center (UMC) at CU Boulder is accepting applications for a Setup Team Member! This position provides setup support for the many lectures, meetings, banquets, and conferences that take place in the UMC. Included in this support is providing setups that meet the individual customer specific requirements. This includes setting up of tables, chairs, pipe and drape, mobile staging units as well as daily cleaning and maintaining of event spaces. This position also provides general cleaning of offices, common areas and outdoor spaces associated with the UMC. The role may also be called upon to assist with the setup of some basic AV equipment, office moves and annual cleaning projects, room and equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned throughout the UMC.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

What You Should Know


Provide Event Setup Support
  • Provide timely and proper setup support per customer requests in all event spaces meeting rooms, and other spaces throughout the UMC.
  • Set up tables and chairs, risers, pipe and drape, banners, removal of existing furniture, resetting rooms, trash disposal, and AV/PA support as needed.
  • Prioritization of daily work assignments, making adjustments to setup requests when needed, and deciding what equipment to use to complete the tasks.

Daily Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Provide clean well-maintained meeting and banquet space every day to the customers of the UMC.
  • Empty trash receptacles before and after events, dust-mopping, mopping, scrubbing banquet floors, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, and keeping furniture clean and well maintained.

Cleaning and Maintaining Offices and Exterior Areas
  • Clean and maintain offices and exterior areas of the UMC every day.
  • For offices: vacuum, shampoo carpets, empty trash receptacles, dust mop/mop and clean walls and light fixtures.
  • For exterior of building: perform daily inspections of spaces, empty trash receptacles, sweep sidewalks, power wash walk ways and build walls as needed.

Customer Support
  • Work directly with customers to fine tune setups and make changes as needed.
  • Assist customers with their requests and ensure the setup meets their needs.

Annual Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Perform major floor and facility maintenance during breaks in the academic schedule.
  • Shampoo carpets, strip/reseal/wax floors throughout the building, clean windows and walls, repair and inspect furniture, deep clean event spaces, organize equipment and other duties as assigned.

Moving Services
  • Perform moving functions for offices, equipment, and furniture.
  • Move heavy equipment, desks, stone tables, furniture, wood supplies as needed.

Other Duties
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor, including: snow removal from sidewalks during winter months, general equipment maintenance and repair, replace lights throughout building, and other duties as assigned.

The annual salary for this position is $40,000.00.
